BLENDER! Global Smoothie Day

Smoothies are the new fast food! But they’ve gotta be made with intention. That means low glycemic fruit, healthy fats & mostly greens.

On October 3 at our monthly BLENDER, we’re teaming up with Global Smoothie Day! It’s like a mixer, but healthier.

Gather in the kitchen for superfood smoothies and super conversation at this monthly event for our community.

We’ll provide the basics, but feel free to bring that mushy banana on your counter, a handful of cacao nibs, or a couple spoonfuls of moringa powder to throw into the mix!

Global Smoothie Day is sharing 40+ free recipes from nutritionists that are BOTH delicious and nutritious. Join us for this nutrient-dense play day of fun on October 3rd and grab your FREE starter kit here:

What is at the heart of your business?

I help health, fitness & wellness entrepreneurs go from unknown and underpaid to standing out and selling out.

Why did you join a women’s coworking and wellness community?

I wanted to find a space of like-minded people on a mission to help others live their best lives full of health & vitality. Finding a women’s-specific community wasn’t on purpose, but it’s an inadvertent natural fit. Somehow there’s always been a female-only area of my life, whether that was Girl Guides, an all-girls high school, or being in a sorority during undergrad. So I’m definitely not surprised I stumbled into a women’s coworking facility!

What does thriving look like to you?

To me, thriving is living in a space of full abundance and possibility – financially, professionally & personally. And of course, having the freedom to enjoy all of those things.

Shecosystem’s core values are openness, community, collaboration, accessibility, sustainability, feminism, and wellness. Which of these resonates most with you and why?

Collaboration definitely resonates with me the most. I’m a big believer in collaboration over competition, and as a natural connector, I love to partner with others on certain types of projects.

What do you wish to give and/or receive from this community?

I know that a lot of women in the space are entrepreneurs and it’s totally my passion to work with health, fitness, and wellness entrepreneurs – the kind that really wants to make a big difference in the world. However, a lot of the time entrepreneurs can’t afford traditional PR agencies or publicists, so I hope to help the women in the Shecosystem community learn how to stand out in their industries, get known as the experts that they are, and magnetically attract their ideal clients right to them.

Tell us one way you integrate self-care into your working life:

Middle of the day naps. Lots of ’em 🙂

What’s your top piece of advice for other women entrepreneurs?

Don’t wait for permission or perfection. Also, persistence without being a pest is *key* – everything I’ve ever wanted and gotten is because I haven’t been afraid to be persistent, go after, and claim the things I want.

What is at the heart of your business?

Enabling women to join forces and turn their combined resources and expertise into the power they need to make the life, and business they want.

Why did you join a women’s coworking and wellness community?

Because I believe women are more powerful and successful together.

What does thriving look like to you?

Thriving is about feeling good in my skin, giving to others, and contributing to my community.

Shecosystem’s core values are openness, community, collaboration, accessibility, sustainability, feminism, and wellness. Which of these resonates most with you and why?

Community for sure! In fact, I believe a community is foundational to the future economic model for women entrepreneurs. To thrive, women entrepreneurs need to be willing to bring their businesses together to collaborate and build revenue in a likeminded community.

What do you wish to give and/or receive from this community?

I will give my time and my expertise. I am also willing to be a mentor for younger women in the community. I wish to receive support for my new business and hopefully access opportunities to deliver workshops, talks, and small group sessions based on topics relevant to the community.

Tell us one way you integrate self-care into your working life:

I am an avid Crossfitter and I am in my Crossfit box 5 mornings per week without fail

What’s your top piece of advice for other women entrepreneurs?

Seek direction from women who have gone before you, find your niche, find your community, hold your breath and leap!

I really appreciate and value the concept of sisterhood. I believe that there is power in women who come together to dream, create, collaborate and execute.

What does thriving look like to you?

Progression over perfection.

Shecosystem’s core values are: openness, community, collaboration, accessibility, sustainability, feminism, and wellness. Which of these resonates most with you and why?

Community. When we unite we are the strongest.

What do you wish to give and/or receive from this community?

Breathwork. Even if I have ‘one of those days’ where life is getting overwhelming and I tell myself ‘I have no time’! Something I always make time for is a breathing meditation or simply taking time to notice my breathing, the quality of my breath, the pace and in that moment I can find some simple peace.

Sheena Ewan Spreads the Healing + Shares the Love

Name: Sheena Ewan
Business:  Creator, Astrology Guide and Reiki Master/Teacher at Raw Redemption and Co-Founder of Roots Movement Retreats

What is at the heart of your business?

Spiritual and emotional wellness techniques and beliefs that help individuals to heal, evolve and transform their own lives by holding space while providing support, self care strategies and honouring ancestral teachings.

Why did you join a women’s coworking and wellness community?

My sister and I won a free month as we’ve both been looking to expand our community base and clientele.

What does thriving look like to you?

Thriving for me looks like offering opportunity and space for others to heal and transform and in turn, have my inner wealth fully reflected in my outer world.

Shecosystem’s core values are: openness, community, collaboration, accessibility, sustainability, feminism, and wellness. Which of these resonates most with you and why?

Wellness is likely the most resonant for me because if I’m feeling less than my best or ideal self, it affects the other values. At the same time, if I’m able to be open* enough in times that I’m not at or close to 100%.. my community*, the sense of collaboration* and feminism* help to maintain my wellbeing too.

What do you wish to give and/or receive from this community?

I wish to, as my company’s tagline says, “Spread the healing. (And) Share the love” with my gifts and products.

Tell us one way you integrate self-care into your working life:

I use crystals in my workspace, in my creams, water and anywhere else I can to get infuse a little crystal magic. I.e., I have a smokeless sage spray under my Raw Redemption line that uses crystal essences and each has a crystal inside as well so every time I spray it, it’s not only sage and palo santo but also crystal infused.

When I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I take a minute to use reiki to balance my energy.

Anything else we should know about you?

I am a mental health advocate and I am an artist and often incorporate art into my events and workshops.

WELLNESS

After 90 minutes of work, we take a purposeful 20-minute wellness break. We look at wellness through a broad lens – activities may include dance, meditation, creative writing, yoga. This month our featured mentor is Emily Rose Antflick, Shecosystem’s founder and Chief Community Cultivator. Her work stems from a feminine paradigm that values collaboration, emotional authenticity, and work-life integration.

With an M.A. in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, Emily spent a decade teaching and creating transformative educational journeys for youth in Canada and internationally. She is a versatile educator and program designer with rich perspectives on learning and community building.

After experiencing a pervasive sense of depletion and misalignment in her personal and professional life, Emily turned her attention to helping women like herself get unstuck and cultivate heart-centred communities that empower them to be their best selves. She founded Shecosystem to hold space for women to work in integrity, nurture their personal and professional wellbeing and connect with a positive community. As part of our #YESIMAY theme for the month of May, Emily’s wellness sessions this month will be all about giving ourselves permission.
